The Lucky Star event is Namibia’s premier
coastal sporting event and has been in existence since 1985. The marathon is a
favourite among runners as its unique route follows the main road between
Swakopmund and Walvis Bay and serves as a qualifier for the Two Oceans and
Comrades marathons in South Africa. In 2015 the cycling categories were added
to the event with the 105km event sanctioned by the Namibian Cycling
Federation.
This year was the last year that the event
took place under the Lucky Star banner. The event organisers assured
participants that the event will be back under new sponsorship next year.
